Trust & Transparency

Data &
Safety

How SaferCiti handles your data, secures the platform, and maintains the integrity of Nigeria's most trusted security intelligence network.

๐Ÿ”

End-to-End Encryption

All data transmitted between your device and SaferCiti servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3. Stored data uses AES-256 encryption at rest.

๐Ÿšซ

No Data Sales

Your personal data is never sold to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. Full stop. SaferCiti is subscription-funded, not ad-funded.

๐Ÿ“

Location Control

You control location permissions. Precise location is never logged without your consent. Disable or limit location access at any time in device settings.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ

NDPR Compliant

SaferCiti complies with Nigeria's Data Protection Regulation (NDPR). You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data at any time.

๐Ÿ”

Transparency Reports

We publish regular reports on government data requests received, how we responded, and any law enforcement cooperation โ€” so you can trust us.

Responsible Disclosure

Found a security vulnerability? Report it to [email protected]. We investigate all reports within 48 hours and credit researchers who help us improve.

Verification Integrity

How We Keep
Data Trustworthy

The 5-Layer AI Verification System

Every incident that appears on SaferCiti has passed through our proprietary verification pipeline. This is not a simple filter โ€” it's a multi-stage process designed to eliminate rumour, misinformation, and malicious reports before they reach users.

  • Layer 1 โ€” Source Credibility: Is the source a known, rated media outlet or verified community reporter?
  • Layer 2 โ€” Cross-Reference: Is the report corroborated by at least one other independent source?
  • Layer 3 โ€” Geolocation Validation: Does the claimed location match the reporting pattern and known risk profile of that LGA?
  • Layer 4 โ€” Community Confirmation: Are community users in that area confirming or disputing the report?
  • Layer 5 โ€” Temporal Scoring: How recent is the report, and does the pattern suggest an evolving or resolved situation?

Incidents that fail verification are marked Unverified and displayed with explicit caveats. They are never removed โ€” because even unverified reports contain signal โ€” but they are clearly labelled so users can make informed judgements.

Missing Persons Data Integrity

The missing persons registry is one of SaferCiti's most sensitive features. We apply strict standards:

  • All missing persons entries are cross-referenced against 39+ media sources before publication
  • Entries auto-detected from media are clearly labelled as Media Report with source citation
  • Community-submitted reports require contact information and are manually reviewed within 4 hours
  • Resolved cases are archived โ€” not deleted โ€” to maintain a complete public record
  • Families can request takedown of entries at any time by contacting support

Incident Reporting Accountability

Users who submit reports are bound by our Terms of Service. Deliberately false reports result in immediate suspension and may be referred to authorities. We maintain reporter metadata (anonymised for display) to identify and remove bad actors from the community.

Your Delete Rights

You can delete your account and all associated personal data at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account, or by emailing [email protected]. Deletion is processed within 30 days.
